The visual narrative "Katayoun" is a chronicle of a woman foreign to the lands of New Mexico on a quest to feel the raw nature that exists in the desert through an all-encompassing experience of mind, body, and soul. I followed Katayoun and observed her interaction with the land, and the transformation that occurred within her throughout her journey. I am interested in the subjectivity of the human psyche, and how it relates to photographic documentation. I explored the possibility of using the camera as a form of evidence of another's reality, as opposed to a direct recording of what I personally saw through another.

"El Rito de Pasaje" is a body of work I completed at the Santa Fe Art Institute concerning undocumented migrants. The objective of the project was to humanize people who journey from the Mexico border. The subjects I photographed are anonymous, and reveal to the camera only the few belongings that they brought when they crossed. The items they have symbolize the harsh reality of sacrifice that occurs when people travel illegally to America to build a better life. The images of the people I photographed are then super-imposed on landscapes of and near the border, to give the viewer a visceral experience of what occurs when these people embark on this treacherous journey.
